She made her international début at the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics, where she finished 11th in the downhill and 14th in the giant slalom, but was disqualified in the slalom. At the 1966 World Championships held in Portillo (Chile), she placed fifth in the combined and sixth in the giant slalom.
In 1967 Demetz won her only World Cup title, or podium, in a downhill at Sestriere. She again competed at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics, placing 13th in downhill and 14th in giant slalom. Nationally she won 10 titles between 1965-69 (3 downhills, 2 slaloms, 4 giant slaloms, and 1 combined), and also collected six silvers and one bronze medal.
Demetz retired from competition in 1970 due to an injury and became responsible for the Lange firm for her area. She and her husband settled in Santa Cristina, where they managed a company with their children, and also had a home in Carezza.
