Biography

Canadian-born figure skater Patricia Dodd was one of the leading interpreters of classical works who gave very artistic performances. She was third in the 1966 Commonwealth Winter Games representing England and was runner-up in the British Championships in 1967-68, before winning the title for the next three years, 1969-71. Dodd placed 15th at the 1968 Grenoble Olympics and between 1968-71 appeared at four world and four European champions, with a sixth place in the 1970 and 1971 Europeans being her best finishes. After her competitive skating days Dodd turned professional and joined the John Curry Skating Company. “Blessed Spirit”, a life-size sculpture of Dodd, by New York sculptor Stanley Taub, was on display throughout 1990 at the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame and Museum in Colorado Springs.
