Brigitte Flierl

Following a West German junior title in 1975, Brigitte Flierl became the West German sprint champion in 1976. She repeated that in 1978, when she also claimed the national all-round title. In subsequent years, she was overshadowed nationally by Sigrid Smuda and Monika Holzner-Pflug. Flierl competed in three European and three World All-round Championships, but only qualified for the final distance at the 1982 Europeans, placing 16th. Her best result in three appearances at the World Sprint Championships was in 1977, when she placed 19th, and her 1980 Lake Placid Olympic results were 28th in the 500 metres and 33rd in the 1,000.

Personal Bests: 500 – 42.67 (1984); 1000 – 1:27.27 (1984); 1500 – 2:13.23 (1982); 3000 – 4:52.89 (1982); 5000 – 8:32.00 (1983).
