Biography

A four-time Olympian (1992-2002), Corinne Niogret won two Olympic biathlon relay medals, a gold in 1992 and a bronze in 1994. She was at her best at the World Championships, winning 15 medals between 1993-2001, with three gold, six silvers, and six bronzes. Her World titles were in the 15 km individual in 1995 and 2001 and in the team event in 1993. Niogret won six individual medals at the Worlds, adding three silvers and a bronze to her two titles. During her World Cup career, Niogret won 11 events, with eight coming in individual races. She was on the podium 57 times, 37 of them individually. A 22-time French champion, she also claimed two victories at the 1995 European Championships. Niogret started out as a cross-country skiier, winning the French schoolgirls championship in that sport, but turned to biathlon in 1988.
