Biography

German figure skater Tanja Szewczenko finished sixth in the women’s singles at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics. As one of the favorites for the 1998 Nagano Olympics, she had to withdrew due to a viral illness. She collected two bronze medals at international major events, winning them at the 1994 World Championships and 1998 Europeans. In 1994-95, and 1998, she also won the three German national titles, in addition to two silver and bronze medals.

After her active career, Szewczenko became an actress, starring in a figure skating soap (Alles was zählt)(Everything that Counts) and later in other television productions. She also worked as a model and was photographed naked in German Playboy magazine in 1999 and 2007. Her partner was figure skater Norman Jeschke, with whom she had a daughter and twin sons. They married in 2020. From 1994–2005 she occasionally participated in professional ice shows. Szewczenko’s mother was Russian-German and her father was Ukrainian.
