German hurdler Ralf Leberer was eliminated in the second round of the 110 metres event at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Domestically, he won the German national title over 60 metres hurdles indoor in 1999 and 2001. He retired in 2002 due to two Achilles heel ruptures.
Leberer studied electrical engineering and graduated. He obtained his doctorate from the Ulm University Society in 2006 for his work in the field of “special microwave antennas”. He later worked as a freelance consultant with the German Athletics Federation in the media department.
