Crawford Palmer won a basketball silver medal with the French team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, although he was born an American. Palmer attended college initially at Duke University where he helped them win an NCAA title in 1991, but he was usually a back-up to Christian Laettner, which led to Palmer transferring to Dartmouth for his senior year, where his brother, Walker Palmer, had played.
Not selected in the NBA Draft, Palmer played professionally first in France with Bourg-en-Bresse in 1996/97, and then with LDLV Asvel from 1997-99. During that time he met a French woman and they married, which enabled him to become a French citizen and play at the 2000 Olympics for France.
Palmer was with Joventut Badalona in Spain from 1999-2001, then Caceres in Spain in the 2001/02 season, and ended his professional career with Strasbourg from 2002-06. Palmer remained in France and became a general manager of Limoges CSP in Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro A.
