Günther Weidlinger

Middle- and long-distance runner Günther Weidlinger won 39 Austrian titles in 1,500 metres (1999-2000), 5,000 metres (2004-05, 2007-08), 10,000 metres (2003-05,2007), 10 km road running (2005-06, 2009-10), half marathon (2010), cross country-short (1998.2000-06), cross country-long (2001, 2003, 2005-2008), 3×1,000 metres relay (2000-02, 2005), and 3,000 metres steeplechase (1997-99, 2003, 2006-07).

Weidlinger was also a four-time Olympian from 2000 at Sydney to 2012 at London. In 2000, he finished eighth in the 3,000 metres steeplechase, was eliminated in the heats over 5,000 metres in 2004, came 27th over 10,000 metres in 2008 and finally did not finish the marathon in 2012, withdrawing at the 13-kilometre mark.

In 2008, Weidlinger won the Great Manchester Run and in 2009 the Great Australian Run. He married and raised a son.

Personal Bests: 5000 – 13:13.44 (2005); 10000 – 27:36.46 (2008); 3000S – 8:10.83 (1999).
