Ice hockey forward Manfred Ahne played with VER Selb and rose to the second league in 1981. He then moved to DJK SB Rosenheim, where he played from 1982-95 and helped them to win the West German Championship in 1985 and 1989. Ahne then finished his career with Kassel Huskies (1993-95), ERC Selb (1995-2000) and Bayreuth Tigers (2000-01). He then embarked on a coaching career with lower clubs.
Ahne was selected for the national team at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics when West Germany finished fifth, by beating Finland 7-4. He also played at the World Championships from 1985-89, and won a total of 82 international caps and scored nine goals.
