Albino Alverà, known affectionately as “Boni”, was an Alpine skier from Cortina. In 1951 he was the Italian champion in slalom and giant slalom. He competed at the 1948 St. Moritz Winter Olympics, the 1950 Aspen World Championships, and in many classics in Chamonix, St. Moritz, Kitzbühel, and St. Anton.
At 16 Alverà was one of the founders of the Scoiattoli mountaineering group. Alverà was a prominent mountaineer, with many climbs, first ascents, and new routes opened in the Dolomites and the Alps. Mountaineering became his profession as a mountain guide for over 50 years.
