Defenseman Heiko Antons came in seventh with the West German ice hockey team at the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics as the winner of the consolation round. He earned three international caps. Domestically, he played with Düsseldorfer EG, helping them to win West German titles in 1972 and 1975. Antons later played with EC Deilinghofen, EC Ratingen and ERC Westfalen Dortmund in lower leagues. His son Nils also became a hockey professional. Both later became physicians by profession.
