Captain Richard Grenfell Aylmer was a British solider and cross-country skier. At the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympics he lost valuable time in the 30km after breaking a ski early in the race before a replacement was obtained from an official first aid post. A few weeks after the 1956 Olympics, he competed in the World Military Skiing Championships in the 30km Ski Patrol race. He finished 23rd and was the second-best of the three British entrants.
In 1964 Aylmer married Marelyn Joyce Miller, daughter of Sir James and Lady Miller. He was the great-nephew of Lord Desborough as his grandmother and Lord Desborough were siblings.
