Biography

Czechoslovak ice hockey player Stanislav Bacílek was one of the mainstays of the national team during the 1950s. Bacílek won bronze at the Ice Hockey World Championships in 1955, 1957, and 1959, in addition to competing at the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympics. Domestically he spent much of his career with HC Kladno where he won the national league title in the 1958–59 season and served as their player-coach for the 1965–66 season. He finished his playing career with Cortina in Italy in the early 1970s. In addition to ice hockey he also played football where he represented Kladno in the Czechoslovak First League. Sadly for Bacílek he had to have both his legs amputated in the 1990s. He was inducted into the Czech Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Kladno Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014.
