Baker played his club hockey for the Brighton Tigers, joining them in the 1946-47 season. He spent six seasons with them, and in 323 appearances, scored 153 goals. He was a member of two National League Championship winning teams in 1946-47 and 1947-48. He ended his career in Scotland, firstly with Falkirk Lions and then with Edinburgh Capitals.
