The Czechoslovakian ski jumping champion of 1948, Miloslav Bělonožník finished 16th in the St. Moritz Games that year. His greatest result came 7 years later, when he set an unofficial world record, landing after 107 m in Oberstdorf (Germany). After ending his active career, he designed ski jumping hills. With that background, he became chairman of the jumping hills subcomittte of the International Skiing Federation (FIS). In this function, he made the ski jumping world record an official record. As late as 2009, Bělonožník was still involved in the organization of the Nordic Skiing World Cup in his home town, Liberec.
