Louis Béraud was a sergeant in the 59e régiment d’Infanterie Alpine stationed at Briançon in the French Alps. Béraud was the winner of the 1926 challenge Paul-Echeman, an 18 kilometre military cross-country event. Two years later he was a member of the French ski team at the 1928 Sankt Moritz Olympic Winter Games where he competed in the Nordic combined event, but did not finish.
