Biography

Turkish boxer Vahdettin İşsever fought at several weight classes during a career that spanned more than a decade. İşsever started his in-ring career in 1983 at the Bursa Police Sports Club, winning bronze at the Junior European Championships three years later. As a featherweight he won silver at the 1991 Mediterranean Games before going one better with gold at the Games in 1993. Moving up to the lightweight class, İşsever won bronze at the 1996 European Boxing Championships to earn himself a place on the Turkish Olympic team. At the Atlanta Games, however, he lost his opening fight to the eventual gold medallist Hocine Soltani of Algeria. After his boxing career İşsever worked as a coach at the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, in addition to coaching athletes on the national team.
