Horst Bernhard was an East German bobsledder who finished an unfortunate fourth with the four-man team (driven by Horst Schönau) at the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Games. In 1978 and 1979, Bernhardt won two four-man bronze medals at the European Championships. The greatest moment of his sporting career came in 1978, when he won the four-man gold medal at the World Championships in Lake Placid.
