Biography

Eric Blomgren began selling bicycles in Stockholm, which saw him also competing in the sport, winning the Skandis race in 1911. By 1916 Blomgren started to train hard in speed skating and went on to win 22 medals at the Swedish championships from 1917 to 1924. His performances earned him a place on the Swedish Olympic team for the 1924 Chamonix Games where he skated in the 500 and 5,000 metres, finishing 11th and 12th, respectively. Blomgren continued to compete for more than a decade, setting a national record in the 5,000 metres in 1938.

Personal Bests: 500 – 45.9 (1922); 1500 – 2:27.9 (1922); 5000 – 8:48.2 (1920); 10000 – 18:01.8 (1921).
