Jimmy Borland was selected for the British team for the 1934 World Championships, while playing for the Grosvenor House Canadian. He missed the 1935 season but in Olympic year he was captain of Brighton Tigers and was in the line-up for five of Britain’s seven matches at Garmisch-Partenkirchen. An electrician by trade, Borland was a keen all-round sportsman and excellent at golf, swimming and baseball.
Most sources state that he died in 1938 but he is known to have worked as an electrician in Montreal after World War II.
