Biography

Sigurd Bröms grew up in the small town of Leksand where he learned to play ice hockey with local children on a nearby frozen pond. Naturally talented Bröms made his début in the Swedish league for Leksands IF in 1946 when he was just 16-years-old. Apart from a couple of seasons with Bodens BK he remained at Leksands IF until he retired from the sport in the mid-1960s. He was also a mainstay on the Swedish national team, making 142 appearances for the side during his career. Bröms won gold at the World Ice Hockey Championships in 1953 and 1957, and represented Sweden at the Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo (1956) and Squaw Valley (1960).
