After starting his career with Hammarby IF in 1931, Ruben Carlsson moved to AIK Solna in 1935 and played with them through 1947. He then finished out his career playing with Atlas Diesels IF, retiring in 1954. Carlsson won four Swedish league titles. He skated as both a center and left wing, and competed at both the 1936 Winter Olympics and the 1935 World Championships. He was also a useful bandy player.
