Lamberto Ceserani was a prolific ice dancer who won seven consecutive Italian titles with his partner Matilde Ciccia from 1969–70 to 1975–76. During this time the pair competed at multiple editions of the World and European championships where they placed inside the top 10 on six occasions. Their best international performances came in the 1975–76 season, finishing third at the Skate Canada International and sixth at the Innsbruck Olympics.
