Louis De Ridder

Louis De Ridder competed at both the 1924 and 1936 Winter Olympics, and appeared in two different sports at each Games, and three different sports in all. De Ridder played ice hockey and speedskated in 1924, and played ice hockey again in 1936, also participating that year in bobsledding.

In ice hockey De Ridder began his career in 1922 with Le Puck Antwerpen. In 1926/27 he played in Austria with the Wien City Team, returning to Belgium the next year to play with Antwerpen CPA. He was with Antwerpen through 1933, and then played for Brussels Club des Sports d’HiverB and later with Etôile du Nord, retiring in 1940 after a season with Brabo Antwerpen. In addition to his Olympic appearances, De Ridder played at the European Championships in 1923-25 and 1927, and at the World Championships in 1933 and 1934. He won two European medals, a bronze in 1924 and a silver in 1927. De Ridder was the stepfather of Micheline Lannoy, gold medalist in pairs figure skating at the 1948 Winter Olympics.
