Steffen Doering

East German speed skater Steffan Doering specialized in the sprint distances. After two Junior World Records in 1979, he did not manage a full breakthrough with the seniors. Participating in four World Sprint Championships, his best rank was 16th (1981-82), while at he placed 11th in the 500 metres at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics. He also finished 26th in the 1,000 metres. He twice won an East German national title, once in the 500 m (1980) and once in the sprint (1982). Doering later married his teammate Cornelia Jacob, and became a dentist in Berlin with his own practice.

Personal Bests: 500 – 37.4 (1979); 1000 – 1:16.2 (1979); 1500 – 2:02.0 (1982); 5000 – 8:06.75 (1979).
