Forward Georg Eberl placed sixth with the West German ice hockey team at the 1960 Squaw Valley Olympic Games. He earned 55 caps with the national team participating in the World Championships of 1954, 1955 and 1959. Domestically he played for EC Bad Tölz, winning the West German titles in 1962 and 1966.
Eberl, who owned a hotel in Bad Tölz, later became a local politician. He spent 42 years in the municipal parliament of Bad Tölz for the left-wing party SPD (Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands [Social Democratic Party]).
