Uli Egen

Füssen-born ice hockey forward Uli Egen, son of Markus Egen and brother of non-Olympian Hans-Peter Egen, started his active career with EV Füssen. In 1982 he moved to Düsseldorfer EG, but he did not reach the peak he had at Füssen. He then moved to BFC Preussen Berlin, Eintracht Frankfurt, and EC Kassel, all situated in the second West German league.

With the West German national team, Egen played at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics and three more World Championships in 1979, 1981, and 1982. After his active career he turned to coaching, assisting at Kassel and Augsburg. He then became head coach with Eisbären Berlin in the German professional hockey league DEL. Later he moved to the Netherlands for a brief stint, and then coached Kassel Huskies, ESV Kaufbeuren, and Füchse Duisburg. He also went to Italy, coaching briefly at HC Gerdëina, before returning to Duisburg in the lower Oberliga.
