Ivo Ferriani was an Italian bobsledder who later became a sports official. He was on the Italian national team from 1984-90 and competed for Italy at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, finishing 19th in the two-man event accompanied by Stefano Ticci. Ferriani earned a bachelor of sports science at Roma’s State University.
Following his retirement from active competition, Ferriani coached the Italian team from 1990-94 and then coached the French team, leading them to three medals at the bobsleigh World Championships and an Olympic bronze medal in the four-man event at the 1998 Winter Olympics. From 1999-2002 Ferriani became coach of Canada Bobsleigh Skeleton and in this period the team had their best finish (5th) in the two-man event at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games.
In 2009 Ferriani announced his candidature for the Presidency of the International Bobsleigh and Toboggan Federation and he was elected in 2010 during the meeting in Lake Placid. He was re-elected in 2014 and 2018, and in 2016 was named to the IOC as an IF President. In 2018, he was named to the Executive Board of the IOC.
