Biography
West German cross-country skier Georg Fischer finished seventh with the 4x10 km relay as his best result at the 1988 Calgary Winter Games. Individually, he placed 34th over 50 km. Fischer had already participated in the 1987 Biathlon World Championships, and in 1989 won the relay silver medal. His brothers, Fritz and non-Olympian Markus, were also biathletes and later biathlon coaches. Georg Fischer later became a ski waxing specialist.
