Damjan Fras made his World Cup ski jumping debut shortly after his 17th birthday in March 1990. He showed promise by winning a bronze medal in the Individual Normal Hill event at the 1991 World Junior Championships but took nearly a decade to reproduce this success at senior level.
His first top 10 finish at a World Cup event came in Park City, Utah in 2001 and it was at the same venue a year later that he helped his nation win an unexpected Olympic medal in the team competition. His individual results at his two Olympic Games were not remarkable and he had a best finish of only 22nd and was never a serious contender at world championship level. After a disappointing set of results at the start of the 2003-4 season he dropped down to compete at the second tier Continental Cup and remained at his level until his retirement in 2006.
