Biography

Mihály Gellér was born into a large family of nine siblings, five girls and four boys. Later all four boys, Béla, László, Mihály and Gábor, became famous ski jumpers.

During his sports career Mihály competed for the Budapesti Honvéd and MOM SC. In 1968 he won the Hungarian Ski Jumping Championship in the normal hill. The following year he defended his championship title and also won the gold medal in the Nordic combined. In 1971 he won the championship title in both the normal and large hill and was also named Skier of the Year.

He participated in the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics where he placed 56th and 58th. In 1970 he finished 35th at the World Championships held at Lake Csorba.
