Biography

Giovanni Graber was a former Italian luger who competed during the 1950s and ´60s and participated in two consecutive Winter Olympic Games. At Innsbruck in 1964 he placed 23rd in the singles and fifth in the doubles with Giampaolo Ambrosi, and four years later in Grenoble, Graber was 12th in the individual race and eighth in the doubles with his brother Enrico.

Giovanni also took part in numerous editions of the World Championships, with the highlight being at Krynica-Zdrój in 1962 when he won the gold medal in the doubles with Ambrosi, ahead of the West German and Czechoslovakian crews.

He received in 2019 the Gold Collar for Sporting Merit from the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI).
