Biography

An electrician by trade, Swedish sportsman Svante Granlund played bandy, football, and ice hockey, excelling in the latter. Granlund began his ice hockey career at Hammarby IF in 1940 before joining AIK the following year. He remained at the club for more than a decade, including captaining them on their 1953 tour of the Soviet Union, the first time a Swedish team had travelled there. In 1948 he was part of the Swedish team that competed at the St. Moritz Olympics, playing in four matches and scoring three goals. Sweden finished fourth at the Games, with the tournament also serving as the World and European Championships, resulting in the team winning bronze at the latter. After his playing career Granlund had a prolific career as a coach working with both the national junior and B teams.
