Biography

Ludwig Gredler was an Austrian biathlete who participated in five consecutive Winter Olympics from 1992 at Albertville through 2006 at Torino. His best Olympic performance came in 2002 at Salt Lake City when he placed an unfortunate fourth over 12.5 km pursuit and sixth with the 4x7.5 km relay. He also placed fifth in the 10 km sprint in 1994 at Lillehammer.

Over 20 km Gredler had his best international results at the 1997 and the 2000 World Championships, winning silver and bronze medals, respectively. In total, he won nine World Cup races in different disciplines. In 2015, Gredler was named assistant coach, and in 2025 chief coach, of the Austrian biathlon national team.
