Before World War II, Frankie Green played for both Wembley Monarchs and Wembley Lions, starting his career in the 1936-37 season. The War years interrupted his career, and he had just two seasons in the National League after the hostilities, one each with the Monarchs and Lions. His pre-war record is not known, but post-war, he played 62 League games, scored 24 goals and is credited with 27 assists. He scored one goal in England’s 7-3 defeat by the United States at London in 1947, and the following year was Great Britain’s top scorer at the St. Moritz Olympics. His tally of 15 goals made him the tournament’s fourth top scorer, and his total included four in the 7-2 win over Poland and five in the 14-7 in over Italy.
