Figure skater Peter Göbel paired with Margit Senf at the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Games. They placed 13th, and also finished eighth at the 1960 Europeans. One year later they won the first international figure skating medal for the former GDR by claiming the European bronze medal. In 1963 they came in fourth. At the 1964 Worlds the pair finished 12th. In 1960, 1961 and 1963 Göbel and Senf won the East German championships.
