Erwino Hari first appeared at the Swiss national cross-country skiing championships in 1956, where he placed fifth in the 15 kilometers event. Despite this, he was selected to represent his country at the Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympics that year, where he was 38th. He was fifth again at the nationals in 1957 and then competed in the 30 and 50 kilometer races at the 1958 World Championships, but did not finish either. He finally reached the podium at the Swiss championships in 1959, with bronze in the 15 kilometers, and followed it with a bronze in the 50 kilometers the following year. He then took silver in the 50 kilometers in 1961, behind Michel Rey, and just missed the podium in fourth in the 15 kilometers. He was 41st over 15 kilometers at the 1962 World Championships and retired from active competition shortly thereafter. He later ran a ski school in Adelboden.
