Max Holsboer started his career in 1910 with Genève HC, but in 1917 started playing with Berliner HC in Germany, and stayed with that club until he retired in 1935. Holsboer skated at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics, the 1911 European Championships, and the 1912 LIHG Tournament. He later refereed at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Winter Olympics.
Holsboer’s career was as a chemist. He was a friend of controversial German filmmaker and actress Leni Riefenstahl and acted in several of her movies.
