Tatsuo Ichikawa was one of four defensemen on the European tour of the Japanese national team in 1936. A student at Waseda University, he appeared in both Japanese games at the 1936 Winter Olympics. In the match against Sweden he conceded a penalty in the third period. Ichikawa was so ashamed of himself that he started to cry and had to be consoled by his teammates. He played an additional eight friendlies for Japan, scoring one goal.
