Polish ice hockey player Szymon Janiczko began his career with KTH Krynica in 1948 and won the league title two years later. By 1952 Janiczko had become a mainstay with Legia Warszawa where he won a further 10 league titles (1952–57, 1959, 1961, 1963–64). He played in 278 matches in the Polish league and scored 64 goals. He also played in 45 matches for the Polish national team, scoring 13 goals. Janiczko represented Poland at the 1955 World Championships and the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympics, playing in five matches and scoring a goal at the latter. In 1973 he left Poland to live in Sweden where he worked as a physical education teacher in Stockholm.
