Charles Kessler skated alongside his brother, Herbert Kessler, at the 1936 Winter Olympics. Charles Kessler also played for Switzerland at the World Championships in 1933-35 and 1937-39, at the 1941 Wintersportwoche, and the Spengler Cup in 1936 and 1937, earning 78 caps in all. At the Worlds Kessler won silver in 1935 and bronzes in 1937 and 1939. In that era the World Championships doubled as European Championships, giving him five European medals with golds in 1935 and 1939, silvers in 1934 and 1937, and bronze in 1933.
Kessler played most of his career at right wing and for Zürcher SC, although he had brief stints with Zürich City, Davos HC, and Bern HC. Kessler retired after the 1943/44 season and became an international referee. His career was in banking.
