Jon Inge Kjørum came to national attention as a ski jumper in 1987 when he was Norwegian Champion on the normal hill. The next year he won the national championships on the big hill and earned a place on the Norwegian Olympic team for the Calgary games, where he was a member of the Norwegian team that won the bronze medal in the team event. His best season was 1989. He won the Norwegian Championships on the normal hill, and won his only World Cup victory on the big hill in Liberec, Czechoslovakia. He placed fifth on the normal hill at the 1989 Lahti World Championships, and ended the season by placing second behind Jens Weißflog at Holmenkollen. Kjørum ended his ski jumping career after the 1992 season. After his retirement he worked for a period as ski jumping coach for the Norwegian team in Nordic combined. Kjørum was educated in marketing, and in February 2011 became the marketing manager for the ice hockey team in his hometown of Hamar, the Storhamar Dragons.
