Biography

Finnish ice hockey player Erkki Koiso spent his entire career with Tampereen Ilves, spending a decade with the club from 1951 to 1961. Koiso played in 105 league games, winning four Finnish championships (1952, 1957–58, 1960) and being the best defenseman in the country in 1957. For the national team he also played in 67 matches, including five games at the 1960 Squaw Valley Olympics. Following his playing career Koiso worked as a coach at Ilves, winning the league in 1966. In 1985 he was inducted in the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame.
