Arnholdt Kongsgård

Kongsård was a member of the excellent ski jumping milieu of Kongsberg, which was started by the famous Ruud brothers. He came to national attention in 1934, when he placed fourth at Holmenkollen, at age 19. His third place in the 1936 National Championships secured him a place on the Olympic team. He also competed in the 1938 World Championships (sixth place), earning a bronze medal in 1939. Three times he was a silver medalist in the Norwegian Championships – 1938-39 and 1946. Kongsgård was a tinsmith by profession, working in his home town Kongsberg. His son Knut Kongsgård was 1968 European Junior Champion in ski jumping, and his granddaughter Anne Molin Kongsgård competed in snowboard (halfpipe) at the 1998 Olympic Winter Games.
