Moroccan track and field athlete Ali Ezzine specialised in the 3,000 metres steeplechase, winning medals at both the World Championships and the Olympics. On his international début Ezzine won bronze at the 1996 World Junior Championships in Sydney. He continued to be consistent at international events, eventually winning bronze at the World Championships and the Grand Prix Final, both in 1999. One year later he represented Morocco at the Sydney Olympics, once again winning another bronze, preventing a Kenyan podium clean-sweep in the process.
In 2001 Ezzine won silver at the World Championships in Edmonton, finishing just over a second behind the Olympic champion Reuben Kosgei (KEN). Towards the end of his career, he made his second appearance at the Olympics, placing eighth in the final at the 2004 Athina Games. In addition to the steeplechase, Ezzine also had success at the World Cross Country Championships, winning silver in the team race in 1998, along with bronze in the same event in 2000. His younger brother Hamid also competed in the steeplechase at the Olympics, placing seventh at the 2012 London Games.
Personal Best: 3000S – 8:03.57 (2000).
