Biography

The career of Dutch speed skater Roelof Koops spanned from 1929 until 1942, which saw him compete at the European Championships, World Championships, and the Olympics. During the first half of the 1930s Koops had consistent results at the European Championships, which earned him a place on the Dutch Olympic team. At the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Games he skated in three events with a best result of 13th coming in the 5,000 metres. After the Olympics he won silver and bronze at the national championships in 1940 and 1941, respectively.

Personal Bests: 500 – 46.0 (1935); 1500 – 2:20.7 (1939); 5000 – 8:39.8 (1937); 10000 – 17:59.4 (1938).
