Ove König was a Swedish speed skater who represented SK Winner in Örebro. In 1970 König finished eighth in the men’s sprint at the World Championships in Wisconsin, before winning silver a year later in Inzell, West Germany. He remained consistent at the World Championships, finishing fifth in Sweden in 1972 to earn himself a place on the Olympic team. At the Sapporo Games he came seventh in the 500 metres. At the European Championships König won bronze in the sprint in 1973, followed by a fifth-place finish a year later. His younger brother Bo was also a speed skater, with him competing in three races at the 1992 Albertville Olympics.
Personal Bests: 500 – 38.4 (1972); 1000 – 1:19.2 (1971); 1500 – 2:09.2 (1971); 5000 – 8:32.7 (1969); 10000 – 17:53.4 (1969).
