A 2000 Olympian, softball player Loredana Auletta played 13 years in Serie A with Bologna, Crocetta and Forlì, winning an Italian title in 1992 with Mapier, along with three European titles and 61 caps with the national team. She was also a member of the Italian World Cup teams that finished ninth in 1994 and sixth in 1998.
A right-handed catcher, Auletta married baseball player Piancastelli and moved 2001 in to San Diego California when her twin daughters Nicole and Erika were five. The girls also played softball from a very young age, the latter maintaining Italian citizenship, star of the McNeese State University team in Louisiana, and captained the Italian national team.
