A right-handed infielder, Marina Cergol made her début with her hometown club Mode Giovani Trieste, under the coaching of Piro Rauber. A few years later, she moved to Azzanese and was coached by Luigi Tomasella. A literature graduate, Cergol won four European Championships between the years of 1992-99, finished sixth at the 1998 World Championships in Japan, and at the age of 35, finished fifth at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
