Biography

Vilgot Larsson was 16-years-old when he made his senior début for Leksands IF in the Swedish ice hockey league in 1949. Larsson remained at the club until 1964, playing in almost 250 matches for the team. He also had a lengthy career with the national team, representing them in 104 matches. In 1956 he was part of the squad that played in the ice hockey competition at the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympics where Sweden finished fourth. The tournament served as both the World and European championships, resulting in Sweden winning silver at the latter. At the World Ice Hockey Championships Larsson won gold at the 1957 edition in Moskva, followed by bronze a year later in Oslo. He retired in 1968 and became a coach, helping Leksands IF to win three junior titles.
